What is a Physiatrist?
A physiatrist is a physician trained in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), a medical specialty focused on restoring function and improving mobility in patients with neuromusculoskeletal injury or disease.
Physiatrists evaluate how injury, illness, or degeneration affects movement, strength, and daily activity. Care emphasizes functional recovery—including recovery after surgery—rather than isolated symptoms.
At PMR Care, evaluation begins with function and patient goals. Progress is measured using patient-reported outcomes that allow recovery to be tracked objectively over time and shared with referring providers.
